Drinking more, eating less: when to call the vet
Some changes in an older cat are more than age. These are the ones to call your vet about, rather than wait on.
Call your vet soon if she
- Drinks more than usual. The water bowl empties faster.
- Pees more. The litter has bigger or more clumps.
- Eats less, or loses weight.
- Looks unkempt, or seems tired.
Also call if she
- Eats more, but still loses weight.
Mention it at the next visit
- She cries at night.
- She seems lost at home, or uses the floor instead of the tray.
Don't wait
If she stops eating, or seems unwell, call your vet the same day.
